⚡ Dispatches from the hiring desk
WIRE OPEN · ED.6 · OCT 202621 OCTThe TAPIF window opened on 15 October as published, so the PARIS row moves from ON THE WIRE to LIVE WIRE and its clock from OPENS 15 OCT to CLOSES 15 FEB. The ticker line, the next-issue strip, the editor’s note and the alerts band move out of the future tense on the same date. No programme source was re-read today, so every CHECKED date below stands as it was.
CHECKEDBoard read at official sources 5 Aug 2026. JET, EPIK, NALCAP and TFETP re-read 9 Sep 2026. JET, EPIK and Fulbright re-read 23 Sep 2026. JET and EPIK re-read 30 Sep 2026. TAPIF, British Council ELA, NALCAP and the Embassy of Japan in Ireland read 14 Oct 2026. Euro at European Central Bank reference rates published 29 Sep 2026.
26 AUGJET conversion corrected from €23,500 to €21,800, and the opening month moved to the official timeline.
9 SEPEvery euro figure recomputed at ECB rates of 8 Sep. Taiwan TFETP salary and vacancy count pulled, both official pages unreadable.
18 SEPEPIK floor corrected from 2.35M to 2.2M KRW. Edition 4 found Level 2 starts at 2.2M, and 2.35M is its top.
18 SEPJET row now reads Fall 2026, because it had not opened on 17 Sep, and €22,400 becomes €22,500 at the ECB rate of 16 Sep.
23 SEPJET 2027 opened 21 Sep and closes 13 Nov, 11:59pm HST. Row moves to LIVE WIRE and the link now points at the year-specific US timeline page. Every euro figure recomputed at ECB rates of 22 Sep. EPIK, JET, Fulbright and the ECB re-read at source.
30 SEPJET and EPIK rows re-read at source for Edition 5. No local-currency figure changed.
30 SEPSweep of Issue 005. Every euro figure on the board recomputed at the ECB reference rates published 29 Sep 2026, so JET moves from €22,300 to €22,500, Korea from €1,415–1,800 to €1,430–1,820, Vietnam from €1,045–1,745 to €1,055–1,760, Thailand from €660–1,450 to €655–1,445 and Hong Kong from €3,900–7,545 to €3,935–7,615. The ticker was quoting Hong Kong at the 8 Sep rate and is now in line with the board. The claim that TAPIF opens in November has been removed from the ticker, the board and the alerts band, because no 2027/28 date is published. EPIK’s salary page re-read and confirmed to run 2.2M to 2.8M KRW, with Level 3 not being hired.
7 OCTExpired-window check between editions, not a full sweep. The HMRC Self Assessment registration deadline of 5 October and the Fulbright France close of 6 October have both passed, so the ticker moves from FLASH to LINE CLOSED and the edition card, next-issue strip, editor’s note and alerts band move to the past tense. The alerts band now names the three published JET dates — UK 5 November, US 13 November and Ireland 4 December — in line with our Deadline Alerts page. No programme source was re-read today, so every CHECKED date above stands as it was.
14 OCTEdition 6. TAPIF 2027/28 now has a published window, 15 October to 15 February 2027, read on Villa Albertine, so the PARIS row moves from NO DATE to a dated line and the “early November is a pattern” wording is retired. Ireland’s JET closing date of 4 December, previously carried on an editor’s read, re-read at source on the Embassy of Japan in Ireland page. British Council English Language Assistants 2027/28 opens in November, added to the ticker. NALCAP re-read and still carries no 2027/28 date. The PARIS chip reads ON THE WIRE because the window opens tomorrow; it becomes LIVE WIRE from 15 October. No euro figure recomputed; TAPIF is published in euro.
14 OCTSweep of Issue 006. TAPIF re-read at source on Villa Albertine and confirmed: 15 October to 15 February 2027, €1,010.67 gross and about €810 net. The TOKYO row now names the published UK and Irish JET closing dates in place of the unconfirmed Australian date of 5 November, which no official JET page carried on two checks and has been withdrawn rather than left standing. The LONDON row now says the British Council round opens in November 2026 with no day published. The MADRID link now points at the English NALCAP page. The Hong Kong NET range was re-read at the Education Bureau and confirmed at HK$35,080 to HK$67,850, which is what this board already carried; the Salary Index was carrying an older scale and has been corrected to match. No euro figure recomputed on this board.

Editor’s note
The Hire Wire exists because TEFL job hunting runs on rumour. Edition 6 is the France edition, because the date we refused to guess in Edition 5 has now been published: TAPIF 2027/28 opened on 15 October and closes on 15 February 2027. Ola sets out what the programme publishes and what it does not yet, so readers can build the slow parts of the file before the portal opens. The same edition carries all three JET deadlines, with the Irish one now read on the Embassy’s own page, the British Council assistantship opening in November, and the honest note that NALCAP’s page has still not turned over. We check programme pages, ministry notices and government boards, print the date we checked them, and correct a line in place when a source moves, including when the source was us. Katie’s own teaching experience in Zambia and Abu Dhabi keeps the briefing focused on what a teacher needs to act on next.

Work in a careers service? There is a page here for you.
Nobody in a careers office has time to track thirty ministry calendars, and there is no reason they should. That is the job this briefing does, and it is free. The institutions page explains how every figure is checked, who writes it, what we sell, and why none of that is hidden.
It also carries wording you can paste onto a resources page in a minute, and free deadline alerts by region so no student of yours hears about a closing date two months late.

The TEFL Institute earns its living selling TEFL qualifications, which means we have something to gain if you decide to train. You should weigh what you read here in that light. What we will not do is bend the reporting to suit it: the vacancies, pay figures and closing dates come from the programmes themselves, they are not conditional on buying a course from us, and where a scheme is not worth applying for we say so.
